Dear Friends and Family:
After much thought and many prayers, I decided to retire from the profession of arms which I so dearly loved to declare candidacy for the United States Congress in Idaho’s 1st Congressional District. My decision to run for Congress after 26 years of faithful service to the nation stems from my passion for serving a cause greater than my own.
I am proud to be an Idahoan, and I love our country. I believe in the American Dream and our unalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. I am optimistic about the future, but I am concerned that Congress has lost its way. It is failing the American people and leveraging the future of our children and grandchildren in the process. I am disheartened by the gridlock and partisan politics that plague our government and threaten our republic. The 116th Congress faces many difficult challenges including a seemingly insurmountable debt, spending, national security, trade, immigration, preservation of our civil liberties, education, care for the least among us, and infrastructure to name a few.
Now, more than ever, our Congress needs to reflect the values and priorities of “We the People.” To find solutions that best serve the interest of our union and its citizens, we must elect representatives with fresh perspectives, courage, common sense, and bold leadership. Leaders who know firsthand what it means to serve and sacrifice. It is imperative that our representatives put the needs of their constituents first, understand that sound stewardship of taxpayer dollars is essential to good governance, place principles over politics, and recognize that freedom is not free. We are blessed to live in a country founded on faith, family, and equality for all, a nation where freedom and opportunity are woven into the fabric of our existence.
Every generation will bear witness to a crucial moment in time. In my lifetime, I have never felt more strongly about the need to fulfill my civic duty and participate in the very essence of our great nation – democracy. My goal is simple, selflessly serve the American people and ensure future generations prosper.
